"Garden Next to the Sea"
This particular project took approximately five weeks to complete. The theme is "Garden Next to the Sea".
It is a trompe l'oeil of a somewhat formal garden scene with a maiden statue on the lawn, " In it, you will see
trompe l'oeil decorative carvings, a small Finch on the ledge, a path to the sea with an art bench ...which the client likes to collect
and has several on property. The longest part of the job was completing the ANTIQUED ITALIAN MARMARINO PLASTER treatment over all walls.
The walls were originally a 70's knock-down splatter texture and needed to be updated to a smoother, old-world look & feel. (see below)

BATHROOM
In the bath area, the Marmarino wall treatment was continued. I then painted this trompe l'oeil marble niche with
Calla Lilies in glass. The ceiling had a sky mural with seagulls & trompe l'oeil decorative-white iron corner brackets...
along with pink roses & clinging vines...plus stencil work & misc.
A good trompe l'oeil "Tricks The Eye"
Sky mural, stencil work, seagulls...Notice, here again, the Marmarino Old-World Italian Plaster treatment with subtle laver & blue highlights.
Six trompe l'oeil wrought iron corner brackets were painted with clinging vines and roses.
The Marmarino treatment had 6 stages that were performed on all wall area surfaces.
A DISTRESSED ROPE CEILING BORDER and LAVENDER AND BLUE highlights were added over a burnt-umber patina.
There is nothing nicer than birds flying overhead...
Here I am sketching in the niche over the 4th stage of the Marmarino wall treatment.
Marmarino is imported Venetian Plaster from Italy & consists of pure white marble dust, limestone & binder.
Notice the brown "voids" which are purposefully left behind in some areas to show textural depth, feel and an old-world appearance.
