Painting the "Purple Palace" mural
Here are progress shots that show how it was painted.

Blocking in trees shapes                                       Blocking in sky, ocean and sand color

Establishing vanishing point so I know sizes of animals and kids.                                         Blocking in the grass
(since my height is at the outer points of white lines, 6 ft....all other sizes of things can be established by following the lines to the vanishing point)

blocking in the children

I wasn't sure what horse to put in so I took pictures of the mural and then on computer experimented pasting different horse images.
After painting the palomino version (which was my favorite horse color as a child) ...I sat and stared at the mural and an image of a winged
pegasus came to my mind...so I jumped up and painted in the wings...I was thrilled at this symbolism.

Next, I added some fore and background foliage and rocks.

From there, I started painting in details including the hidden animals.
