Cabo Beach Scene for Lalo's Mexican Grill in Hillcrest, Ca.
32 ft. x 5 ft. = 160 sq. ft.

![]() Closeup of "Cabo Lalo's" with limes on sill & "Gabriel & Blue" playing in front (owners son)
Painting little bird on window sill.
Faux wall treatments with Palm embellishments. This treatment goes throughout restaurant.
This is not real, of course...Chives pot painted in trompe l'oeil niche..
I asked Lalo (the owner) to have an actual arch built to frame the mural.I then started researching Cabo San Lucas scenes & began sketching
compositions & ideas. I knew I wanted the illusion of great distance with authentic Cabo mountains in the background.
I also wanted a beach and a lot of palms to give that lush tropical feel. I then walked into the restaurant again & decided it would look
good to have two smaller windows on each side of the mural to expand the scene & make it more interesting.
After I almost completed the mural, the owner asked me if I could include his son in the mural without distracting from the design.
I asked him to take some photographs of his son and his dog "Blue" & he got this great shot of them playing tug-o-war.
FAUX WALL treatments with soft palms were painted on all walls.
